Migration Troubleshooting

Most migrations run cleanly. If something looks off, start here.

Account

"We couldn't find your account." Try searching by your username instead of your email — it's the most reliable way to find your account, especially if you changed your email recently. If you signed up with a social login, the username is usually the surest match.

Verification failed. Use your current Salon.io password — the one you'd use to sign in at salon.io today. If you've forgotten it, reset it on the old platform first, then try again.

Import

A page failed or was skipped. Run the import again and select just that page. Re-running and selecting just the missing page is the safe way to retry — re-importing a page you already brought over makes a second copy, so re-select only what's missing.

The import is slow. Large sites with many high-resolution images take longer, because every image is downloaded and re-hosted here. Keep the tab open until it finishes.

A page is missing. Hidden pages (public pages kept out of your navigation) can be imported — just make sure they were selected in the page list. Password-protected pages can't be imported, because the Salon.io API doesn't expose their content; remove the password on Salon.io first if you need that page. If a page existed only on your old site after a long gap, re-running the import can sometimes pick it up.

I ran the import twice and now have duplicate pages. Re-importing doesn't replace pages — it adds new copies with a numbered address (like about-1). This usually happens when an import is interrupted and re-run over the whole site. Delete the extra copies from your pages list; keep the ones with the original addresses. To avoid it next time, import in smaller batches.

Content

Images look cropped or differently sized. SalonEngine sizes images differently from the old layouts. Open the section and adjust the layout or the image's size — see Understanding layouts.

A layout looks different. Each legacy layout is mapped to the closest new one, but the new engines give you more control. A small repositioning pass usually gets it looking the way you want.

Fonts changed. Legacy custom fonts don't always map one-to-one. Choose a theme font that fits.

Known limits

Some things don't migrate: password-protected pages (remove the password on Salon.io first), your custom domain's DNS (reconnect it in settings), and custom HTML and third-party embeds.

Coming soon: tags and multi-language pages aren't supported by the importer yet — support for both is on the way.

Still stuck?

Contact support with your Salon.io username and the page that's giving you trouble, and we'll help.
