Migration FAQ
Quick answers to the questions that come up most often when bringing your Salon.io site across.
Can I import some pages now and more later?
Yes. Import any time; each run adds the pages you pick. Re-importing a page you already brought over makes a duplicate, so select only new pages on later runs.
I imported twice and have duplicate pages — what do I do?
Delete the extra copies (the ones with numbered addresses like about-1) from your pages list. Importing in smaller batches avoids this. See Troubleshooting for the full steps.
Which page becomes my home page?
The first page you import (or the page you'd set as home on Salon.io, if you import it). You can change it later from your pages list. If the site already has a home page, that one is kept.
A page shows few or no images on the select screen — will I lose content?
No. The counts reflect what will actually import, so pick the page and it'll bring its content across. Password-protected pages are the exception — their content isn't accessible. See Troubleshooting for the known limits.
My legacy account is "already linked" — can I still import?
Yes. Linking claims the account (one New Salon account per legacy account); importing only needs the password. You can bring content across even if it's linked elsewhere. See Finding your account.
Which new layout will my old one use?
See the mapping table in After migration. The new engines are more capable, so expect a close, refinable match rather than an exact copy.
Do my custom domain and fonts come across?
No to both automatically. Reconnect your domain in site settings (the DNS isn't moved), and pick a theme font after import — legacy custom fonts don't map one-to-one.
Does importing change my old Salon.io site?
No. Migration copies content into a new site here; your original keeps running until you decide to retire it.
