Migrating from Salon.io

Already have a site on the original salon.io? You can bring your pages, images, and text across to the new platform without rebuilding from scratch. Migration copies your content into a new site here — it doesn't touch your old site, which keeps working until you decide to switch off.

How it works

New Salon is a separate system — migration copies your old content into a site here, so the flow is:

  1. Sign up on New Salon — a fresh account at new.salon.io. Your old Salon.io login won't work here.
  2. Create a site — on your dashboard, click Create New Site. Migration happens inside a site. (Still seeing a getting-started video on your dashboard? You haven't created a site yet.)
  3. Open Settings → Migration on that site, and find your account — look it up by the email or username you used on Salon.io.
  4. Verify it's you — confirm with your Salon.io password (this also starts your 90-day Pro trial).
  5. Select pages — choose which pages to bring over.
  6. Import — watch your content come across, page by page.

The most common mix-up: linking your old account is not the same as creating a site. You must create a site first — that's where the Migration tool lives. You don't log into your old account to export; everything happens on New Salon.

What transfers

  • Pages — title, address (slug), order, and whether they're public or hidden (a page that's live but kept out of your navigation menu).
  • Images — your photos, with their captions, links, and sizing carried over.
  • Text — your text content and basic styling.
  • Videos — YouTube and Vimeo embeds found in your pages.
  • Layout — each legacy page's layout is mapped to the closest SalonEngine layout (see Membership carry-over for tier handling).

Password-protected pages can't be migrated — the Salon.io API doesn't expose their content. If you have password-protected pages, remove the protection on Salon.io before importing, then re-add it here afterwards if you still need it.

What is not migrated

  • Your custom domain's DNS — you'll reconnect your domain in site settings, it isn't set up automatically.
  • Account details from Salon.io (password, payment info, notification settings).
