General Settings
The General tab is where you manage a site's core details: its title and description, whether it's published, performance, and removal. Open it from your site's settings.
Basic Information
Two fields control how your site is named and described:
- Website Title — the name of your site, used in the browser tab and as a fallback elsewhere.
- Description — a short summary of your site. If you haven't set an SEO description, this is used for search engines too.
Edit either field, then click Save Changes. The button stays disabled until you've made a change.
For a dedicated search title and description, see SEO. For your site icons and Social Preview Image, see Appearance.
Website Access
This section controls whether your site is live.
- Toggle Published on to make your site visible to visitors. The change saves instantly — no Save Changes needed.
- A badge next to the heading shows the current state: Published or Draft.
Below the toggle you'll see your site's address(es), each opening in a new tab:
| Address | When it appears |
|---|---|
| Platform URL | Always — your site's address on New Salon. |
| Custom Domain | When you've connected and verified a custom domain. It's shown first as the primary address. |
Your platform address is built from your username and site name. To connect your own domain, see Custom Domains.
Access & Privacy
By default a published site is open to anyone with the link. Access & Privacy lets you restrict who can view the whole site, with two independent gates you can use on their own or together. This is a Premium feature (and above).
Access rules only apply once the site is Published — an unpublished site is hidden from everyone regardless. While the site is a draft, this section is greyed out.
Password
Click Add password, type a password, and save. Visitors then see a simple unlock screen and must enter the password before they can view the site.
- Use the eye icon to check what you're typing.
- For security the password can't be shown again after saving — note it somewhere safe. You can Change password or Remove it at any time.
- The unlock lasts for the visitor's browsing session and clears when they close the browser, so it's safe to share a link on a shared computer. Changing the password locks everyone out again.
Group access
Pick one of your groups from the dropdown to restrict the site to that group's members. Members simply sign in to New Salon and are let straight through — no password needed. Remove the restriction by choosing No group restriction.
You can pick any group you belong to. Access is checked live: if someone leaves the group, they lose access.
Using both
If you set both a password and a group, a visitor gets in by satisfying either one — entering the password or being a signed-in group member. Protected sites are also hidden from search engines.
To protect just one page instead of the whole site, use the page's own settings — see Preview & Publish.
Performance
Use Clear Cache to force New Salon to serve the latest version of your site. This is handy if a published change hasn't appeared for visitors yet.
You usually don't need this: leaving the editor (Stop Editing) already clears the cache so your changes go live.
Danger Zone
Delete Website permanently removes the site and all of its pages, sections, and content. This can't be undone.
To delete a site, type its exact title into the confirmation field, then click Delete Website. The button stays locked until the title matches. Deleting also cancels any active subscription and removes connected domains for that site.
