Understanding Layouts

Layouts are powered by SalonEngine — the system that arranges the blocks in a section. Each section picks one SalonEngine layout (Canvas, Fixed Width, and so on), and you can give every section a different one and mix them down a page. Select a section and open its Layout panel to switch.

The layouts

Canvas
Manual block positioning on a column grid with drag, resize, and z-index
Variable Grid
The signature New Salon layout — column-based masonry with variable widths
Fixed Width
Dynamic tile-based layout with varied block sizes
Justified
Image gallery with justified rows and consistent heights
Horizontal
Horizontal scrolling layout with mousewheel navigation
Slideshow
Sequential content display with navigation controls
Square Grid
Square aspect ratio grid layout

Choosing one

  • Photo galleries → Justified or Square Grid.
  • A curated, art-directed page → Canvas.
  • Telling a story in order → Slideshow.
  • A structured grid you control tightly → Variable Grid or Fixed Width.

There's no wrong choice — switch a section's layout any time and your blocks rearrange to fit.
